Skin Care

Healthy skin depends on a number of factors including the correct balance of certain nutrients in your diet.

A wide variety of different foods is always recommended for a healthy balanced diet so that the body receives the vast complement of nutrients it needs for good health. An adequate intake of Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin B complex, zinc, iron, copper and essential fatty acids is particularly important for healthy skin. These nutrients are so widespread in the diet that deficiency would be very rare and would only be expected to occur in the case of a very restricted diet that is limited to a small number of foods.

It is important to make sure we eat a healthy balanced and varied diet that includes at least four portions of fruit and vegetables per day.

A good fluid intake (8-10 glasses/cups per day) together with adequate rest and daily exercise are also important for a healthy appearance. Note that fluids are made up of water, milk and fruit juice and do not refer to water only. Finally, smoking has a negative effect on the appearance and quality of the skin.
